WATAMU MARINE PARK

WATAMU MARINE PARK

“Haven of the Green Turtle”

Green turtles, unique coral gardens, the Gede Ruins – the Watamu Marine National Park & Reserve has it all. The park is part of a complex of marine and tidal habitats along Kenya’s north coast with rich and diverse birdlife, fish, turtles, and dugongs. Visitors can enjoy the white sandy beaches, snorkeling, water skiing, windsurfing, and glass-bottomed boat tours.

Abundant BirdLife

Over 100 species of birds are found in the cultivated gardens, shambas and bush. Commonly seen overhead is the Black Kite, whilst the Common Bulbul, White-Browed Coucal, and Speckled Mousebird can be seen scuffling in the undergrowth. Bright Yellow Canaries and Golden Palm Weavers flash in the bush, whilst the Lizard Buzzard and the Lilac Breasted Roller are often seen perched on poles and wires.
